ALEPH Canada is dedicated to reclaiming the Jewish people’s sacred purpose of partnership with the Divine in the inseparable tasks of healing the world and healing our hearts.
In 1979, when we (Hanna Tiferet and Daniel) had been in Vancouver only two years, we invited our friends Aryeh Hirschfield and Yitzhak Husbands-Hankin to give a concert. This was the first time that the emerging music of Jewish Renewal was shared with this Jewish community. A prominent Reform rabbi heralded this music as, at the time, the first authentically North American Hassidic music that was not nostalgia for Eastern Europe. It was an important beginning for us all; ALEPH and R. Yitzchak are happy to share this foundational moment with you.
